Humidifier wick — soft mesh vs rigid panel storage shape

Humidifier wick

Soft mesh humidifier wick filters compress differently than rigid panels. Store each humidifier filter shape uncompressed so airflow channels stay open next season.

A soft mesh humidifier wick and a rigid honeycomb humidifier filter both fail when crushed flat in a bin. Match storage to the shape so channels stay open for next season.

Soft mesh vs rigid humidifier wick — store the shape you have

  1. Identify media: soft accordion mesh vs rigid thick panel. Both are still a humidifier wick / evaporative pad in most manuals.
  2. After end-of-season cleaning, dry fully. Soft mesh needs room to spring back; rigid panels need edge support so corners do not warp.
  3. Store upright in a breathable bag or open shelf — never under heavy boxes that flatten the wick.
  4. Next season, discard any wick that stays compressed, mildewed, or permanently bowed — airflow will stay weak.

Do not stretch a soft mesh wick over a frame that is not its size — tears create dry channels and uneven mist.
