A soft amber marker light on the upper arm helps people see an Optimus-style helper in a dim hallway or driveway. These robot accessories ideas keep the light small and away from moving parts.

Optimus upper-arm marker light, clear of sensors and joints

  1. Place a soft stretch band on the middle of the upper arm, between the shoulder and the elbow, never over either joint.
  2. Choose a low-glow amber or white LED band. Skip bright strobes that could confuse cameras or people.
  3. Keep the light facing out to the side, not up toward the head sensors.
  4. Swing the arm through its full range. If the band slips onto a joint or rubs a seam, refit or remove it.
