Windshield wiper blades — rear hatch adapter is not a front blade

Wiper size

Rear hatch windshield wiper blades often use a different adapter than the front. Match rear wiper blade size and adapter before you force a front blade on the hatch.

A rear hatch arm often needs its own wiper blade size and adapter. Forcing a leftover front windshield wiper blade can pop off at highway speed or leave a dry arc.

Rear hatch wiper adapter is not the front windshield wiper blade

  1. Look up or measure the rear blade separately from the front pair — length and connector often differ. See how to find your windshield wiper blade size.
  2. Buy a rear-specific blade or a kit that lists your hatch adapter (pin, bayonet, or specialty clip).
  3. Install only the matching adapter from the multi-pack; discard extras so they are not mixed with front hardware later.
  4. Spray washer fluid and confirm the rear blade stays locked through a full sweep before closing the hatch on the arm.

Honest stop: do not bend a front beam blade to fit a short rear arm. If the hatch connector is broken, replace the arm or see a shop — tape will not hold a blade in rain.
