Streaks do not always mean new windshield wiper blades. Road film and grit on the rubber edge cause a lot of them, and a damp cloth clears it in a minute.

Clean the windshield wiper blade edge

  1. Lift the wiper arm off the glass and hold it so it does not snap back.
  2. Run a damp cloth along the rubber edge two or three times until the cloth comes away clean.
  3. Lower the arm gently and test with washer fluid.
  4. If it still streaks, look for nicks or a rounded edge. That is when to replace the blade.

That is the whole tip. Skip harsh cleaners on the rubber.
