Windshield wiper blades — discard extra adapters
Wiper size
Multi-adapter windshield wiper blades include extra plastic pieces. Keep only the adapter that matches your arm; discard the rest so the blade locks tight.

Multi-pack windshield wiper blades often ship a tree of plastic adapters. Using two adapters stacked — or leaving the wrong piece on — is a top reason a new blade launches or chatters.
Which multi-adapter piece to discard on wiper blades
- Identify your wiper arm type (hook, pin, bayonet, or side-lock) from the old blade or the arm tip — not from guessing in the parking lot.
- Open the adapter kit. Fit only the single piece that matches your arm. The blade should click or lock with no leftover wiggle.
- Discard or bag the unused adapters. Do not stack a second adapter “for tightness.”
- Install the driver blade first, lower the arm gently onto a clean windshield, and mist with washer fluid for a test wipe.
If the blade will not lock with the correct single adapter, you may have the wrong length or arm family — revisit size before forcing it.
