Key fob battery — store the spare coin cell away from loose change

Key fob

Key fob battery tip: keep the spare CR2032 coin cell in its pack, away from coins and keys, so it stays charged and safe until the next swap.

A spare key fob battery only helps if it is still full when you need it. Coin cells can drain or warm up when their faces touch metal, so where you keep the spare matters.

Keep the spare key fob battery in its pack

  1. Leave the spare coin cell sealed in its original blister pack until swap day.
  2. Store it in a drawer or small box, not loose in a pocket, cup holder, or change jar with coins and keys.
  3. Keep it up high and out of reach of small children and pets.
  4. Write the purchase month on the pack so you use the oldest spare first.

That is the whole beat: sealed, separate from metal, and up high, so the spare key fob battery is ready when the fob gets weak.
