When you pull a refrigerator water filter, wrap it in an absorbent towel before the trash so drip stays off the floor — one small beat.

A spent refrigerator water filter often weeps when you twist it free. Wrap the old cartridge in an absorbent towel or pad before you walk to the trash so drip stays off cabinets and the floor.

Wrap the old fridge filter before the trash

  1. Set a folded absorbent towel or thick paper pad under the housing before you loosen the cartridge.
  2. Twist the old filter free per your fridge filter model instructions, then immediately wrap it so any remaining water soaks into the pad — not the floor.
  3. Carry the wrapped filter to the trash; wipe the housing rim before you seat the new refrigerator water filter.
  4. Flush the dispenser per the new filter sheet, then stop — do not keep twisting a seated cartridge looking for more drip.

Honest stop: a wrap catches cartridge drip only — a housing leak or cracked manifold needs a different repair path.
