Refrigerator water filter — finish the quarter-turn after the first click

Fridge filter

After a refrigerator water filter clicks, finish the maker’s quarter-turn so the O-ring seats and the reminder can reset — one beat past the first snap.

Many refrigerator water filter housings click once before the cartridge is fully locked. If you stop at that first snap, the O-ring may not seat and the fridge filter model reminder may not reset cleanly — finish the maker’s quarter-turn (or lock mark) so water and the ice maker path seal.

Finish the refrigerator water filter quarter-turn after the first click

  1. Align the new filter with the housing marks and push in until you feel the first click or detent.
  2. Continue the twist or push to the published lock position — usually about a quarter-turn past that first click — until the arrows or tabs line up.
  3. Run the dispenser purge volume the manual calls for, then check for drips at the housing.
  4. Reset the filter change light only after the filter is fully locked; if the light will not clear, recheck the lock marks before buying another filter.

Honest stop: if the housing will not turn past the click without cracking plastic, stop and match the exact fridge filter model — do not force a wrong cartridge.
