Vacuum bags — full bellows can hold the bag door ajar
Vacuum bag
When vacuum bags look seated but suction is weak, a full bag’s bellows can hold the door slightly ajar. Check the door gap before chasing filters for vacuum lost suction.

Vacuum lost suction with a “new” bag sometimes means the bag is already puffed so the bellows hold the door a hair open. Confirm vacuum bags seat and the door fully latches before you replace every filter.
Full vacuum bag bellows can hold the door ajar
- Power off. Open the bag door and look for a bag so full the cardboard collar or soft bellows push the door outward.
- Replace an overfull bag with the exact type for your model; seat the collar fully so the door plane is flat.
- Close until every latch or interlock clicks — a soft HEPA door may need both latches.
- Only then inspect exhaust/pre-motor filters if suction is still weak with a fresh bag and a sealed door.
Do not force a door shut on a ballooned bag — that tears the collar and fools the interlock into looking closed.
