Vacuum bags — aftermarket cardboard collar too thick

Vacuum bag

When vacuum bags will not let the door click shut, aftermarket cardboard collars are often too thick. Match collar thickness so the interlock can seat.

If new vacuum bags leave the door proud or the machine refuses to run, the aftermarket cardboard collar may be thicker than the OEM slot. The bag can look “in” while the interlock never clicks.

Aftermarket vacuum bag cardboard too thick for the door

  1. Compare the new bag’s cardboard collar to a spent OEM bag side by side — thickness and hole size matter.
  2. Seat the collar fully on the inlet stub. If the door needs force or stays open a crack, remove the bag; do not crush the door.
  3. Try a bag listed for your exact model (or the OEM type code). Generic “fits many” packs often ship a thicker collar.
  4. After a correct-thickness bag seats, close until the interlock clicks, then test suction on a small rug.

If suction stays weak with a seated OEM-style bag, check hose clogs and exhaust filters next — not another random multipack.
