Printer ink cartridges — print a supplies status page first

Printer ink

Before another clean burns printer ink cartridges, print the supplies or configuration status page. Confirm which stall firmware thinks is empty or XL.

Another clean cycle burns printer ink cartridges into a waste pad. When the display is vague, print the supplies or configuration status page first so you know which stall firmware thinks is empty — and the exact ink cartridge number / XL vs standard — before you waste ink.

  1. From the printer menu (or computer utility), print the supplies / configuration / status page your model offers — not a full photo test.
  2. Read which color or black stall shows low, empty, or “unknown,” and note the cartridge number printed on that page.
  3. Reseat or replace only the stall the status page calls out. Confirm the door label matches that ink cartridge number (standard vs XL).
  4. Only then run one light clean if streaks remain — stacking cleans on a stall firmware already marks empty often worsens gaps.

If the status page looks healthy but pages still streak, stop stacking cleans and use the nozzle check / service messages instead of burning more printer ink cartridges.
