Printer ink — reseat printhead ribbon after a wipe
Printer ink
After cleaning contacts on a removable printhead, reseat the ribbon cable fully before you chase more printer ink cartridges or assume the printhead is dead.

A careful wipe of removable printhead contacts only helps if the flat ribbon cable clicks back home. Reseat that flex before you buy more printer ink cartridges or blame the wrong ink cartridge number.
Reseat the removable printhead ribbon cable after an alcohol wipe
- Power off and unplug. Remove the printhead only if your model allows a user-removable head.
- After the contacts are dry from a light wipe, align the ribbon’s contact edge with the slot — no folds or creases in the flex.
- Press until the latch or friction fit feels fully seated; a half-seated ribbon often shows as missing colors even with full printer ink cartridges.
- Reinstall the head, load cartridges, run one nozzle check — not a long clean cycle yet.
Honest stop: if the ribbon is torn, delaminated, or the latch will not catch, stop DIY — that is a service part, not another ink multipack.
